Cakes, GoGo, and KR

I’ve been telling myself to blog every day for the last two months. There were so many things happening that kept me postponing my blog. Baking is one thing that I do every other day, and of course, Colin and the neighbours here are a captive audience, but I think they’re willing, anyway. I get fish and vegetables in return from the neighbours, but don’t ask me what I get from Colin in return. There’s still a lot of information I can’t share in my blog. Well…let’s look at my irresistible “bake with love” bakery.

Another thing I do for pleasure is translating and writing. Everything is free of charge. We agree to let Colin alone write for a living… (Don’t worry, Col! nobody calls you a sugar daddy, I guess). One of my friends was probably afraid that I was gonna be bored living in a deserted part of the Thailand gulf. She has an apartment in Chiang Mai so she sent me an apartment contract to translate from Thai into English. I had fun anyway. It reminded me when I was working with a law firm.

Another friend, after we’d been chatting for so long via MSN, decided to create a blog http://virginterritory.exteen.com where each of us posts a short story every month. Those of you who read Thai can read my short(s) there and make harsh comments. I’d be pleased. One day when I have more time (like I’m so busy now) I’ll translate them into English and welcome an English speaking audience to comment on our (silly) shorts. Colin can read Thai and he made a comment already. Your comments could be cultural exchange though.

I bet lots of you have been wondering how GoGo is doing now. (I have to inform you that now GoGo has changed her name from CoCo to GoGo due to my Thai accent.) She's been with us for 2 months and a half and she's much bigger and healthier. She's becoming a difficult teenager now. She doesn't let me hug her any more. Ungrateful dog!! Some people said, from the look of her, she could grow up to be an Alsatian. What do you think? Whatever your comments are, I'll keep them a secret and not sharing them with GoGo. She doesn't like harsh comments.

GoGo now even has a girl friend, John. I'm not kidding. Her name is really John. The owner told me yesterday. She's a bitch next door who likes to hang out at my house with GoGo. John is a nice girl and very affectionate. We try so hard not to feed her because we know her owner wouldn't be pleased if John decided to live with us.

And now…for those of you who’re Kathy Reichs’ fans, I have something to boast. WE HAD LUNCH WITH KATHY REICHS AND HER HUSBAND, PAUL IN SAMUI ISLAND!!!! Jealous?

Kathy and Paul came on the Queen Victoria ship and stopped at Samui Island for a day. They said they wanted to meet us but they didn’t know how far it was from where we live to Samui. Unfortunately, we didn’t know either. Colin admitted that he was f… up because he hadn’t checked the distance before we travelled. Of course, the road looks shorter in the map and it is to be blamed. We had to drive about 3 hours from our place to the pier and took 1 hour on a ferry to Samui Island. Of course, we were 2 hours late!!!! Can you believe we were late for Kathy Reichs on her invitation??? Yes…we did it and we were not so proud of it. Luckily, I was smart enough (if you ever believe that I’m smart) to hire a van with a driver to take them to see monkeys, temples, and grandpa and grandma rocks to kill the time while they were waiting for us.

But that wasn’t enough. After lunch we went shopping at TOPS and we were enjoying it so much that we forgot the time. The Queen Vic was about to leave in an hour and the driver said there was no way to drive to the pier in less than an hour. Kathy was really pissed off, I could tell. She said the ship wouldn’t wait, and all her belongings and passport were there. Paul was very calm. Colin pretended to be calm and initiated a conversation on something else rather than the Queen Vic crisis. I told the driver to make it as fast as he could and even asked him to call anyone he knew at the pier to stop the Queen Vic. He said he could make it and drove like a roller coaster. However, the driver did a good job (or the Queen Vic was late). We made it in time. That was fun though, at least for Colin and me, but I shouldn’t say that because Kathy might happen to visit my blog one day, like Eric Stone happened to visit my blog and gave a comment about GoGo.

If Kathy happens to read my blog, I hope she knows that our fun about her panic has been returned. Kathy sent us 8 copies of her books, Kathy Reichs’ T-Shirts, CD and pics of us in Piemonte Noir in Orta Italy (where we first met). All we got here in Thailand were only 6 copies, and that’s it. No T-Shirts or CD of pics in Italy. Blame it on American postal service. The package was sent damaged, repacked, and with weight lost. I wasn’t surprised when I saw Kathy put her full real name on the package. Soon Kathy’s pics would be photoshopped with some jerk, Colin’s pic would be photoshopped with a desperate housewife in Israel, and my pic would be photoshopped somehow to blackmail Barry Eisler. Sad….

Until this line, after 2 big glasses of wine, I think I feel so sad that I cannot write any more. Actually, I have a few things to talk about, but I’ll just stop it here. You can visit my http://picasaweb.google.com/jessicajazz and see pics on Sala Donating Day and Navy Day albums. I hope those pics can show you the atmosphere of where we live.
